Gross ticket sales on the Great White Way continue to climb as sales were up for the third straight week with gross revenue of $20.3 million through the week ending Feb. 26.

Last week’s Broadway sales increased by nearly $250,000 over the previous week. Despite the increase, 12 of the 26 productions’ sales were down including several fan favorites.

Stick Fly” ended its three month run on Broadway on Feb. 26 with sales up 23 percent ($449,964) over last week’s $365,277 in revenue — through the week ending Feb. 19 the show had an impressive increase of 86 percent. “Stick Fly” was among the elite group of five productions this season that featured an African-American storyline, with three of the shows written by African-American females.

Preview performances for “Death of a Salesman” brought another successful week with a total of seven performances and sales up 12.8 percent ($692,172) over last week’s $613,569. “Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It” is now in the third week of its limited engagement with sales up 2.3 percent ($312,767) over the previous week. The engagement will run through March 4.

The Book of Mormon” continued its slow decent with sales down less than half of a percent at $1.47 million.

“Stick Fly” had the highest increase in sales, followed by “The Phantom of the Opera” with an increase of 23 percent ($985,906) and “The Road to Mecca” at 21 percent ($219,854).

Several productions that saw increases through Feb. 19 were not so lucky last week — the biggest loser was “Chicago,” which fell 13 percent ($538,849) after an increase of 54 percent ($622,523) the previous week. Sales for “Sister Act” fell 10 percent ($607,881) despite a 58 percent increase ($674,710) in sales the previous week. “Godspell” ($356,350), “Jersey Boys” ($1 million) and “Wicked” ($1.87 million) also had a loss in sales.

Cumulative ticket sales for Broadway’s shows are up $2.58 million compared to the same week last year (Feb. 21-27, 2011) when sales were $17.7 million with 25 running productions.
