Annual sports competitions help push new venues onto this week’s rankings

New to the rankings this week and landing in the No. 2 position this week is the FedEx Forum located in in Memphis. The venue is home to the Memphis Grizzles and the NCAA Division I men’s basketball program of the University of Memphis.
The multi-purpose arena will also host other upcoming including: Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood, Monster Jam, Stevie Nicks & the Pretenders and Bon Jovi.
Another venue new to the rankings this week is the Georgia Dome home to the Atlanta Falcons, who landed in the No. 4 position in this week rankings. The domed stadium hosts the Peach Bowl and the SEC Championship game. The venue also hosted the Super Bowl XXVIII and the Super Bowl XXXIV.
Other events set to be held at the arena include: Monster Jam, Battle of the Bands, AMSOIL Arenacross, and the AMA Monster Energy Supercross.
Also new to the rankings this week is the United Center who landed in the No. 8 spot. The indoor sports arena is home to the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago Blackhawks and has in the past hosted the Big Ten Men’s Basketball Tournament and the Men’s NCAA Basketball Tournament.
Other events set to take place at the venue include: Maxwell & Mary J Blige, State Farm Chicago Legends: Illinois vs. Northwestern vs. Dayton, WCGI Big Jam, Kings of Leon, Twenty One Pilots & Judah and the Lion, and Disney on Ice: Follow Your Heart.
The only venue able to maintain its same position as last week was New York’s Madison Square Garden who for several weeks straight has kept a stronghold on the No. 1 position. Much of the rest of the rankings stayed the same, just switching ranked positions.
The Staples Center in Los Angeles grabbed the No. 3 position this week moving down from last week’s No. 2, while the Wells Fargo Theatre –PA landed the No. No.5 spot down from last week’s No. 5. The Richard Rodgers Theater, home to Broadway favorite Hamilton moved up to the No.6 spot from last week’s No. 7. The AT&T Stadium home to the Dallas Cowboys landed in the No. 8 position this week down 2 spots from last week’s No. 6, while Caesars Palace – Colosseum in Las Vegas moved down into the No. 9 spot from last week’s No. 8
Gillette Stadium, home to the New England Patriots rounded out this rankings this week in the no. 10 position. In addition to upcoming Patriots home games the stadium is set to host.
