Hello, Dolly! was hit with a huge drop in sales for the week that just ended, corresponding with the first week of star Bette Midler’s vacation. The drop, from $2.3 million to $936,000, amounted to 60% for the show. That’s highest week-to-week slide for any show in 2017, per Lee Seymour in Forbes.

That there was a drop isn’t all that surprising. With the July 4th holiday, sales were down across the board on the Great White Way. Overall, grosses were down 9.4% to 31.9 million.

Midler is back from vacation after next week, a welcome sight for producers of the revival. The show has shattered records since its opening in April, becoming the highest-grossing ever at the Shubert theatre.

Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet may have a big drop next week, due to the pending departure of star Josh Groban. This week, his last with the production, saw a $55,000 jump for the show. That broke the production’s own record at the Music Box theatre with $1.34 million total.
