Following the violence that occurred last month in the city of Charlottesville, Virginia, Dave Mathews Band organized A Concert for Charlottesville: An Evening of Music and Unity- a free musical event that encourages donation to the “Concert for Charlottesville Fund” at the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation. Virginia residents will have their last chance at tickets tomorrow, when an additional 3,000 will be handed out at the Scott Stadium West Gate ticket office starting at 8 AM tomorrow, Saturday the 23rd.
Sunday’s concert at University of Virginia Scott Stadium will feature a star-studded line-up including Dave Matthews Band, Pharrell Williams, Ariana Grande, Justin Timberlake, Chris Stapleton, The Roots, Cage the Elephant, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, and more. The stadium’s parking lots will open at 1 PM, and gates to enter the show will open at 4.
Red Light Management, who will be releasing the final batch of tickets tomorrow, ask that residents not line up prior to giveaway at 8 AM. Tickets will go to UVA students, faculty and staff, and residents of greater Charlottesville including Albemarle, Augusta, Buckingham, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Orange or Rockingham counties. To get a ticket, you must present a valid UVA ID or photo ID with a local address. A maximum of two tickets per person will be distributed. A number of security precautions will be taken at the event, including a clear-bag policy and a list of prohibited items, including signs or banners of any kind.
Donations collected for the concert will benefit victims of the events in Charlottesville on August 11 and 12, their families, first responders, and organizations devoted to the promotion of healing, unity and justice locally and nationwide, according to the website. Visit the site for more information on the event or to donate to the Concert for Charlottesville Fund.
Online requests for tickets have closed. The concert will also be live-streamed for fans unable to attend.
