The pop supterstar Barry Manilow has been hospitalized and is recovering from a bronchial infection, leading him to postpone the opening shows of his “Manilow Las Vegas — The Hits Come Home” residency.

Just before Manilow, 74, was supposed to kick-off his residency at the Westgate Las Vegas yesterday, he started to feel ill. After being rushed to the hospital, he was dianosed with a bronchial infection and was treated with antibiotics. He took to social media, regretfully admitting that he couldn’t make it to the opening weekend, which was scheduled to align with his 75th birthday on Sunday, June 17. However, shows scheduled for June 14, 15, and 16 have been cancelled.

“I can’t believe this is happening,” he said. “Our new show is ready, we’re all ready, and we were all looking forward to tonight.”

Manilow’s representative, Victoria Varela, said in a statement to USA TODAY that Manilow “feels terrible about rescheduling the first three shows and is anxious to get back on stage on Thursday.” Additionally, she said he is expected to make a speedy recovery and should be able to leave within the next few days.

“The entire Westgate family wishes Barry a speedy recovery and we know that he will dazzle audiences when his show resumes on June 21st,” David Siegel, Westgate Resorts’ Founder & CEO, said.

Clint Holmes and Earl Turner will replace Manilow at Westgate for their co-headlining event, dubbed “Soundtrack: Your Songs. Our Stories. The Show.” Manilow’s residency is expected to return as scheduled next weekend on June 21. Fans who already purchased tickets will be able to receive a full refund, and once the postponed dates are announced, ticket exchanges will be available.
