Vivid Seats announced it has signed a deal with the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers to serve as an official ticket marketplace for the franchise. The deal is the first official relationship the resale marketplace has made with an NBA franchise, and is set to launch for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

The deal, described as a “multi-year partnership,” includes an integration with L.A.’s primary ticketing partner AXS. That integration will allow the Chicago-based reseller to serve as a second “official” marketplace for Clippers tickets to be bought and sold, alongside the single stream primary and secondary platform AXS manages at Clippers.com.

“By partnering with Vivid Seats, a company that like the Clippers is founded in innovation, we’re excited to provide our fans a more frictionless ticketing process,” said Gillian Zucker, President of Business Operations for the L.A. Clippers. “Our goal is that every single touchpoint our fans have with the Clippers is an exceptional experience – from purchasing their tickets to catching a hot dog from the hot dog cannon – and Vivid Seats not only understands that fully, but is able to help us achieve that outcome. We’re excited to improve yet another aspect of the Clippers experience through our new relationship with Vivid Seats.”

As part of the deal, Vivid will also partner with the team’s MVP program, which includes “unique experiences and benefits on game days.” It will also bring the company a visible presence at the team’s home games, including in-game signage, digital and social assets, and ticket assets.

“Vivid Seats was created as a technology platform to help fans experience the live events they love and to help ticket holders reach the broadest audience possible, and we are confident this partnership will benefit Clippers fans throughout Southern California and beyond,” said Geoff Lester, Vivid Seats Chief Commercial Officer. “We are thrilled Gillian and her team share our vision of providing their fans with a best-in-class buying and selling experience, and we are excited to partner with them to offer new and differentiated features for Clippers fans.”
