Hoobastank To Play ‘The Reason’ 15-Year Anniversary Tour
Hoobastank revealed a 15-year anniversary tour this fall in honor of their 2003 hit sophomore record, The Reason.
This October, the band will head out on a nationwide tour, kicking things off in Portland, Oregon. Throughout the trek, Hoobastank will make stops in cities like Denver, Detroit, Pittsburgh, New York, Boston, Orlando, and San Antonio before wrapping-up in Ventura, California on December 7. During each show, the group will perform The Reason in its entirety, along with fan favorite hits.
To make the show even more of a “throwback,” the band Secondhand Serenade will support Hoobastank on a majority of the dates. Secondhand Serenade, best-known for 2008’s “Fall For You,” is celebrating the 10-year anniversary of his debut Awake.
The Reason, which was released on December 9, 2003 via Island Records, debuted at No. 45 on the Billboard Top 200 and peaked at No. 3 in 2004. The album features the title track, which is the band’s most successful single to date, and stole the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It’s sold over 2 million copies and received a Double Platinum certificate.
“The Reason tour signifies a lot,” lead vocalist Doug Robb of Hoobastank told Broadway World. “First, we get to revisit a time in our career that was so exciting and groundbreaking for both us and our fans. You don’t get that opportunity too often. Second, it reminds us how fortunate we have been to be able to do this for so long. It’s humbling. Each show will be like a time machine for our fans and us.”
In addition to playing The Reason, the rockers will debut some songs from their first album in six years, Push Pull. The new record was released this past May and features singles “More Beautiful” and “Push Pull.” Robb described the inspiration behind the new LP as freedom, noting that the group wrote the album without feeling like they had to satisfy anyone but themselves or fit into a previous style from their past work.
Hoobastank’s other top tracks include “Crawling in the Dark” and “Running Away” off of their 2001 self-titled debut, as well as “Out of Control” and “Same Direction” from The Reason.
