Rapper Meek Mill will head out on his first concert tour since being released from prison this past April.
“The Motivation Tour” will kick-off in Miami, Florida next February, followed by shows in Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit, New York, and Washington D.C. The 15-date run will wrap-up in Atlanta, Georgia on March 24. He will also make a stop in his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at The MET.
Mill recently penned an opinion piece for the New York Times, in which he explains he was imprisoned for “popping a wheelie on a motorcycle in Manhattan.” Although the charge was dismissed in a New York City court, he said a Philadelphia-based judge still deemed his interaction with the police as a “technical violation of [his] probation,” sentencing him to two to four years in prison, although he did not commit a crime.
Although Mill only served five months in jail, he noted that there are many men and women who are treated unfairly by a “broken criminal justice system” and is advocating to reform the criminal justice system.
Aside from working toward prison reform and speaking out, Mill has also been recording a new album. The LP, dubbed Championships, is due November 30 and follows 2017’s Wins and Losses. The record will feature previously-released singles “Uptown Vibes” and “Oodles O’ Noodles Babies.”
