Hootie & the Blowfish are reuniting and heading out on their first tour since 2008 in support of the 25th anniversary of their debut record.
The iconic group will make 44 stops across North America on the “Group Therapy Tour,” kicking-off the fun in Virginia Beach, Virginia on May 30, 2019. Throughout the trek, they’ll make stops in cities like Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Toronto, Charlotte, and Nashville before wrapping-up in their hometown of Columbia, South Carolina. They will be joined by special guest Barenaked Ladies.
Vocalist Darius Rucker, who has become a country superstar since the band went on a hiatus, explained in a press release that the band members toured for years before signing a record deal. Bassist Dean Febler noted that their performances at fraternity houses and dive bars are something they’re proud of and after all of these years, they’ve “never stopped being a band.”
“There’s nothing like playing music live,” guitarist Mark Bryan said. “For the first time in nearly 20 years we’ll be coming back to Columbia, South Carolina where it all began,” before Rucker interjected, “and we’re ready to rock.”
Cracked Rear View, currently one of the best-selling albums of all time, was released in July 1994 and features singles “Hold My Hand,” “Let Her Cry,” “Only Wanna Be with You,” “Time,” and “Drowning.”Their most recent record, Looking for Lucky, dropped in 2005. While the group has taken a step back from music for a while, they plan to release a new album in 2019.
