Rock band The Vaccines were performing at a show in Blackburn, England earlier this week when a barrier fell twice, causing the band to end the gig early.

The group was playing at King George’s Hall on Monday night when the show was stopped for ” health and safety concerns” due to a crack in the security barrier. While the group was on for an hour, the show had to end 20 minutes early, disappointing the sold-out 2,000-person crowd. Fans told the BBC that the barrier collapsed twice, sending everyone stumbling forward.

One fan, Holly Turner, told BCC that security tried to fix the barrier when it fell, but it just happened again.

“A security guy came on stage and said we’re going to have to cancel the gig due to safety reasons but we hope to reschedule,” she said. “The band were amazing – I really hope they get the chance to come back and play again.”

Following the show, the band took to Twitter to express how they were “angry and empty” the show was cut short, but knew that it was an important decision that was made to protect all fans in the crowd.

“The decision to stop the show was not ours, but the safety barrier in the venue kept collapsing and if we continued people would have been seriously injured,” the post read.

The Vaccines said that bands should hold onto their tickets, noting that they “know how hard you work to pay for them” and that they will return to Blackburn to “finish what we started together ASAP.”

Currently, the group is touring the UK and is slated to stop in Motherwell tonight, followed by gigs in cities like Cardiff, Leicester, and Guilford before a final two-day show in London. Throughout the brief outing, the’ll be joined by acts Latchie, Jesse Jo Stark, and Alan Power, varying per date.
