Pop Princess Britney Spears will get a taste of Broadway this year when her Grammy Award-winning music will be the center of a new musical.

The show, dubbed Once Upon A One More Time, is a new musical comedy based on the book by Jon Hartmere. Once Upon A One More Time revolves around fairy princesses Snow White and Cinderella who have their world shaken up after a rogue fairy godmother shows up to their book club and presents The Feminine Mystique. The princesses find out that there is more to life than they had thought. Broadway World describes the show as “an uproarious, irreverent look at the towering challenges, charms, and choices involved in finding that most elusive of endings: Happily Ever After.”

Throughout the musical, the cast will sing along to some of Spears’ greatest hits. Throughout her 20+ year career, Spears has made a mark in the industry with global successes …Baby, One More Time and Oops!… I Did It Again, continuously releasing hit-after-hit like “Toxic,” “Womanizer,” “Piece of Me,” and “I Want More.” She described the opportunity to have her songs on Broadway as a “dream come true.”

“I’m so excited to have a musical with my songs – especially one that takes place in such a magical world filled with characters that I grew up on, who I love and adore,” she said of the show.

“Throughout her career, Britney has captivated fans across the globe with her singular brand of energy and resilience,” James L. Nederlander said in a statement. “For three years, we have been working closely with her to develop a concept that perfectly encapsulates her unique spirit, and are so thrilled to finally bring this joyous and electrifying show to the stage.”

Once Upon A One More Time will begin a pre-Broadway engagement at the James M. Nederlander Theatre in Chicago this fall starting on  October 29, with an opening night on November 13. The limited engagement will run through December 1 before heading to Broadway. It will be directed by Kristin Hanggi, with choreography by Keone and Mari Madrid. At this point, casting has not been announced, and tickets will go on sale later this year.

Spears is currently headlining another residency in Las Vegas, titled Britney: Domination. The show is her second residency and is set to run through mid-August at Park MGM’s Park Theatre.
