An important note – please forgive any errors in transcription of statements made by those on the panels. We’ll try to be as accurate as possible while watching on the fly, but assume that any attributed statements are paraphrased to a degree, because we’re not a pro stenographer.

Randall Smith It has always been a problem educating the legislators so that they understand what really occurs. It needs to start with the very simple premise that not enough people understand. These are all self dealing corporate entities who seek to maximize profits by controlling the pricing and distribution of the live entertainment product they present. THEY DO NOT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT ANYTHING OTHER THAN THE TICKET BUYERS WALLETS. It is only when the buyers interest aligns with this end that that will do anything that favors a ticket buyer. The primary sellers like Ticketmaster, teams, artists, managers, promoters and venues are always a bunch of lying their asses off motherfuckers who refuse to tell the truth and talk out of both sides of their mouth. They hire expensive lobbyists who do more of the same. The ticket brokers need a white paper that lays out all of the lies and rebuts them. Get it in the legislators hands so they have a well prepared document to refer to and an understanding of the issues before they come to the floor. Gary Adler is very knowledgeable and well spoken, but most legislators whether on the federal or state level are not prepared to handle the truth because it is obfuscated with so much garbage. Brokers large and small are coming to the war with BB guns against billionaires with a vested interest in maintaining control of their product. An open marketplace does not benefit them and they will fight to the death to keep it from occurring.
