The post-Grateful Dead group Dead & Company are hitting the road for a handful of shows this fall.
The group, which now consists of surviving members Mickey Hart, Bill Kruetzmann, and Bob Weir, have been touring with pop star John Mayer, as well as Oteil Burbridge and Jeff Chimenti. They are set to play a two-night gig at New York City’s legendary Madison Square Garden on Halloween and the following night. Then, they’ll stop in Virginia for another pair of shows at the Hampton Coliseum. These dates are the band’s only upcoming dates this year; next January, they’ll kick-off the new year with four shows in Cancun at Moon Palace, dubbed “Playing in the Sand.”
This past weekend was the 50th anniversary of Woodstock — During the 1969 event, Grateful Dead took the stage for five songs: “St. Stephen,” “Mama Tried,” “Dark Star,” “High Time,” and “Turn On Your Lovelight.” While Dead & Co. were also slated to headline Woodstock 50, the festival celebrating the 50th anniversary, the event fell-through after a series of setbacks earlier this year.
