Rather than playing alongside his former teammates, Rob Gronkowski will be spending the Super Bowl kicking-off his very own music festival in Miami.

The former Patriots tight end is hosting the “Gronk Beach” festival on February 1, 2020 on Miami Beach. Presented by Monster Energy, the festival event is set to include Gronkowski’s favorite food and drinks, along with performances from Rick Ross, Flo Rida, DJ Carnage, Kaskade, Diplo, and 3LAU. The Luau-themed event will also include fire twirlers and hula dancers.

Gronkowski shared the announcement in a video this morning.

“I may not be playing the game this year, but I will still be going to Miami and I’m going to be debuting my very own music festival and its Gronk Beach,” Gronkowski told Boston.com. “I mean, you can’t ask for any other situation that better than that. Bring some wildness, some fun, to bring a music festival to Miami and not just on top of Miami, at the Super Bowl. It’s really never been done like that before.”

While fans won’t see him him on the field – and many were holding out hope that he’d return to the team – the football star said that this is their chance to party with him.

“So many people to tell you the truth throughout my career always (told) me, ‘Oh I want a party with Gronk! I want to party with Gronk!’ So this opportunity to do it,” he said, noting that he’ll be partying on stage and interacting with the crowd for “a great overall fun themed party where it just brings entertainment and joy to people’s lives.”

The party will begin at North Beach Bandshell on February 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. ahead of Super Bowl LIV, set to take place on February 2.
