After eight years, Rage Against The Machine will take the stage for a handful of shows, including a headlining spot at Coachella 2020.

The news broke over the weekend on Instagram and an industry source familiar with the festival confirmed the booking with Billboard. Aside from the Coachella slots, set to take place on April 10 and 17 in Indio, California, the post also included dates for shows along the Texas/Mexico border in El Paso, Las Cruces, and Phoenix. The band took to social media, writing “Yes…it’s true..2020..” Venues have not been announced at this time.

The reunion has been announced just eight months before the 2020 presidential election, and it’s possible the group has something planned; back in 2008, they led a march of thousands through the streets of St. Paul after an arena show to protest a Republican National Convention in the city.

Amid the news, Prophets of Rage – the supergroup featuring members of Rage aside from Zack De La Rocha and Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Public Enemy’s Chuck D – have announced their split. Chuck D and B-Real confirmed the news over the weekend on social media, noting that it has been “an honor to rock stages and people of all ages with these guys.” B-Real said that “I hope we left an impression and that the music has been a source of inspiration for those that needed it.”

Rage Against The Machine last released Renegades in 2000, which followed 1999’s The Battle of Los Angeles and Evil Empire from 1996. The group is best-known for staple hits in the rock industry like “Bulls on Parade,” “Killing In The Name,” and “Guerrilla Radio.” The news is among the latest reunion announcements this year, including My Chemical Romance, Tool, Misfits, and Staind.
