The ongoing reopening of Broadway saw another important milestone Monday morning as the nominees for the annual Tony Awards were announced by the American Theatre Wing. A Strange Loop was the most-nominated production, earning 11 including Best Musical, Best Original Score, and Best Book of a Musical. MJ The Musical and Paradise Square each garnered 10 nominations, while The Lehman Trilogy was the most-nominated play of the season, including nods among the Best Play nominees and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for Simon Russell Beale, Adam Godley, and Adrian Lester.

Many of the nominations came from productions that have only recently come to life, as Broadway ramps up to pre-pandemic numbers of productions across its 41 venues in New York. The cut0off date for the season was actually extended to May 4 to allow productions enough time to qualify.

The Tony Awards will be presented in the 75th annual ceremony set for June 12 at Radio City Music Hall. Ariana Debose will host the affair, with limited number of tickets available beginning Monday morning at Ticketmaster.
