AI performances are here to stay, and whether Keith Richards likes it or not, he said that a Rolling Stones hologram show is likely.

In an interview with Matt Wilkinson on Apple Music 1, Richards explained his thoughts on the potential gig.

“Well, I certainly wouldn’t rule it out. I’m pretty sure that it is bound to happen,” Richards said.

The 79-year-old guitarist noted that he doesn’t really have a choice, as it’s likely inevitable.

“Do I want it? Now, that’s another thing,” continued Richards. “But I don’t know if I want to hang around that long enough, man. But at the same time, it won’t be up to me, will it?”

The world of hologram concerts are nothing new; Whitney Houston and Tupac Shakur have been displayed as holograms, keeping their music immortal. While most hologram concerts are held posthumously, ABBA actually helped curate the ABBA Voyage hologram show in London. The concerts include three-dimensional avatars of each member. ABBA might not be on the road anymore, but they’re still raking in millions; According to the project’s lead investor Pophouse, the show sold 650,000 tickets within the first four months, and  Bloomberg reported that the show is bringing in an estimated $2 million each week.

The Rolling Stones just released their first album in two decades, featuring collaborations with big-name superstars like Elton John, Paul McCartney, and Stevie Wonder. While the band might be hitting the road on tour in the near future, a hologram concert is always a possibility.
