The Broadway production of “Hadestown” is getting ready for a cast transition at the Walter Kerr Theatre.

Beginning January 14, Hailey Kilgore and Carlos Valdes are set to take on the lead roles of Eurydice and Orpheus. Additionally, Tony nominee Tom Hewitt will reprise his portrayal of Hades. The three performers will succeed Maia Reficco, Jordan Fisher, and Phillip Boykin, who are set to give their final performances on January 12.

For Kilgore, the role of Eurydice marks a return to the Broadway stage. Her last appearance was in 2017, when she made her debut as Ti Moune in “Once on This Island.” That performance earned her a Tony nomination for Best Leading Actress in a Musical. Meanwhile, Hewitt’s return to “Hadestown” as Hades will be his fourth engagement in the role.

The current “Hadestown” cast features Allison Russell as Persephone and Lillias White as Hermes. Shea Rene, Jessie Shelton, and Brit West complete the principal cast as the Fates. At the helm of the production are producers Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, and Tom Kirdahy with a score by Anaïs Mitchell.

“Hadestown” originally opened on April 17, 2019, and has since become a Broadway mainstay, garnering 14 Tony nominations and winning eight, including the coveted Best Musical award. The production is a modern reimagining of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
