Carlos Santana Postpones Vegas Residency After Injury
The iconic guitarist Carlos Santana has postponed his Las Vegas residency following an injury.
Universal Tone Management president Michael Vrionis reported the news, noting that Santana won’t be able to play guitar for six weeks after breaking one of his fingers during an accidental fall.
“I am sorry to say that Carlos was out taking a walk at his vacation home in Kauai,” Vrionis said. “He took a hard fall, and he broke his little finger on his left hand. He had to have pins inserted in the finger. Unfortunately, he won’t be able to play guitar for approximately six weeks. Doctors do say that he will recuperate fully.”
Santana was slated to perform at House of Blues at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in the Sin City for an eight-show residency. The show was set to kick-off on January 22 and run through February 2. No makeup dates have been announced at this time.
“Carlos is doing well and is anxious to be back on stage soon,” Vrionis continued. “He just needs to heal. Santana profoundly regrets these postponements of his upcoming performances, but accidents happen, and his health is our number one concern. He is looking forward to seeing all of his fans very soon.”
Santana is already scheduled to perform for a series of U.S. shows this May, with dates in Albuquerque, Tulsa, Nashville, and Phoenix on the “Oneness Tour.” Additionally, he’s set to take-over the House of Blues for a previously-scheduled Vegas residency in May. During the summer, the guitarist will head to the UK and Europe.
