The whammin’, jammin’ J. Geils Band will reform for the first time in 10 years when it performs at the House of Blues in Boston, MA, on February 19.
The performance will be part of the grand opening week at the chain’s newest venue. The first Boston-area House of Blues club opened in Cambridge in 1992 but closed in 2003.
Tickets are priced from $45 to $160. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the International House of Blues Foundation, which is dedicated to promoting cultural understanding and creative expression through music and art.
Original members, vocalist Peter Wolf, harmonica player Magic Dick, organist Seth Justman, bassist Danny Klein and guitarist J. Geils, will be performing together for the first time since 1999 when they played at a benefit for the Worcester Firefighters at the Orpheum Theatre as well as a benefit for the Cam Neely Foundation. The House of Blues performance is a one-night-only affair.
The band had a No. 1 hit with “Centerfold” in 1981. The band’s home town is Worcester, MA.
The Boston location for the House of Blues, which will hold more than 2,400 people, officially opens on February 20 with a performance by the Gipsy Kings.
