Australian singer and international pop sensation Kylie Minogue will complete her first-ever tour of North America this fall. Just six shows are booked for the trek, which launches September 30 at Fox Theater in Oakland, CA, and ends October 11 at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, NY.
“I’ve wanted to tour in America and Canada for years and know that fans have been waiting a long time for this,” Minogue said in a statement announcing the tour. “I’m thrilled that the opportunity has finally arrived.”
For You, For Me Tour tickets will be available to the public beginning May 15. A restricted access pre-sale begins a week earlier on May 7, especially for American Express cardholders.
The venue size for Minogue’s brief North American adventure ranges from large theaters with capacity for a couple thousand to arena-sized venues, such as the Hollywood Bowl and Air Canada Centre. The singer’s international tours regularly feature multi-night engagements in arenas and stadiums, particularly in the UK and her native Australia.
“Kylie has such a successful career outside of North America that it has taken quite a while to find a window in her schedule for the U.S. and Canada,” said tour producer Bill Silva of the Los Angeles firm Bill Silva Presents. “Her amazing fans in North America will be well rewarded for their patience when they experience her show and its entire spectacle. We are confident in the tour’s success, and hope that Kylie will make this the first of many tours to our shores.”
Though Minogue has attained a pop icon status similar to Madonna elsewhere in the world, her career in North America has not been as consistently successful. She gained fleeting notice in the 1980s with her cover of “The Loco-Motion,” and again with her 2001 single “Can’t Get You Out of My Head.” Minogue’s other singles failed to make a major impact on the U.S. market, and she has never held the coveted No. 1 position on Billboard‘s Hot 100 singles chart.
In the years since “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” stormed radio airwaves, Minogue has had slightly better luck with her U.S. album releases. Her 2001 album “Fever,” which spawned the contagious dance floor track, peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200. Minogue’s two subsequent albums, 2003’s “Body Language” and 2007’s “X,” also snuck onto the chart’s lower registers.
