Even though the season is still young, both the New York Yankees and the New York Mets are having trouble selling tickets, despite both being pennant contenders and both playing in new, fancy, state-of-the-art stadiums. It’s the talk of the town, from ESPNRadio to the corner bar to even the The Village Voice ( “The Mets have yet to have a sellout”). Watching Yankees games on TV reveal the upper levels pretty much filled with fans – but you can cue the sound of crickets as you gaze upon the pricey field level seats behind and around home plate
What that means, of course, is that there are steals, deals and bargains to be had, thanks to the broker market.
For example, for the April 30 Yankees game (7:05pm start) versus the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, TicketLiquidator has fourth-level seats for $12. You want closer to the action? The site is selling field-level seats (section 117A, behind home plate) for $291. By comparison, a similar ticket sold by the Yankees on the Ticketmaster Entertainment Web site is going for $375 plus its convenience charge.
