Pop sensations One Direction, the British/Irish boy band that is ruling the music charts, sold out their spring U.S. tour so quickly that the group has decided to give fans another chance to see them…next year.

Not only did the group’s scheduled dates in May and June sell out rapidly, but according to Hollywoodreporter.com, a special performance on December 3 at, Madison Square Garden, which was announced only on April 3, sold out in ten minutes.

So, One Direction is helping their disappointed U.S. fans to see them again, if they are willing to wait a year. According to an April 12 announcement on the band’s website, the 25 date North American summer tour will kick off on June 13, 2013, at the, Bank Atlantic Center in Fort Lauderdale, FL and will follow up in metropolitan areas nationwide.

In addition to U.S. dates, which include Washington, D.C.’s , “Verizon Center and New York’s popular , “Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, the group also plans to stop in Montréal, PQ, Toronto, ON, and Vancouver, BC. The tour is currently scheduled to wrap on August 7 in Los Angeles, CA, at the , Staples Center, but with demand as it is, it is likely that more dates will surface shortly.

Presales for the Live Nation show began on April 14, with public onsales starting this Saturday, April 21.

The North American dates are part of the group’s larger 2013 World Tour, which launches at London’s O2 Arena on February 22, then winds its way through Scotland, Ireland and the U.K before hitting North American soil in June. Plans are to expand the tour further with dates in continental Europe and Australasia.

The boys are set to kick off their sold out spring tour of the U.S. on May 24 at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA, finishing it up on July 1 where they will pick it up next year, at Florida’s Bank Atlantic Center.

Secondary ticket sales for these sold-out shows are more than impressive, according to Mike Janes, general manager of Event Ticketing at ticket search engine Fansnap.com.

“The market for One Direction tickets is the hottest we have seen in a couple of years,” Janes recently told TicketNews, “roughly double the number of (Broadway hit) ‘Book of Mormon‘ searches at its peak.”

And prices are soaring: “The average ticket market price for the One Direction tour has increased from $237 in late March to $325 today,” added Janes.

New York area tickets are seeing a particular price bump, with the average ticket for upcoming shows at New York’s Beacon Theatre going for $695. In contrast, tickets for the boys’ outing at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas are selling for $144 each.

“As a result,” said Janes, “One Direction fans may be able to get much better tickets for the money by traveling.”

The phenomenon known at One Direction was actually never intended to be. When the five individual singers failed to make it through their solo auditions on the 2010 edition of the U.K.’s “The X Factor”, guest judge Nicole Scherzinger suggested that they form a group in order to proceed. They quickly found a fan base and ultimately finished third in that season’s competition.

After touring with the X Factor Live tour in early 2011, the group released their debut single, “What Makes You Beautiful” in September. Digitalspy.com reported at the time that pre-orders for the song broke records for Sony Music.

Their November album, “Up All Night”, followed suit, becoming the first U.K. album to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, this according to Billboard.com.

One Direction is only one of several groups and solo artists riding the “clean cut boy” wave this year, but they do seem to be riding the highest of all.
