New Jersey’s Prudential Center is a nearly 20,000-seat indoor arena, located in downtown Newark, which is home to former Stanley Cup champions the New Jersey Devils hockey team. Nicknamed “The Rock” because of Prudential’s logo and slogan, the multi-purpose arena opened in 2007 and was built for $375 million.
In addition to the Devils, the facility also hosts the Seton Hall University men’s basketball team, known as the Pirates, and the New Jersey Ironmen professional indoor soccer team.
The arena is one of the easiest for fans to get to, because it was built only two blocks from Newark Penn Station and near other forms of mass transit.
It was opened in October 2007 with a 10-concert series by New Jersey’s Favorite Sons Bon Jovi, who was joined by the likes of Daughtry, My Chemical Romance and Big & Rich.
