A NASCAR track is following the lead of several ticket brokers to become the first raceway to offer ticket insurance. Delaware’s Dover International Speedway received NASCAR approval to offer the insurance in the event that a race is postponed, as it was for the Autism Speaks 400 Nextel Cup Series race on June 3.
According to Delaware’s News Journal newspaper, fans can now opt for event ticket insurance and receive a full refund if they can’t attend the race on the date of the rescheduled event.
The new insurance option, provided by World Access, offers a full refund of the purchase price if the Dover ticket holder cannot attend the event for a number of unforeseen personal, medical or travel reasons.
The event ticket insurance is available for five percent of the total purchase, with a $6.25 minimum.
If a medical issue, a traffic accident, a mechanical breakdown, or any of the other covered categories prevent the insured from attending an event, 100% of the ticket price, including shipping fees, will be refunded.
