Icelandic female quartet Amiina has canceled its 16-city North American club tour slated to start on Sept. 4. The group was planning to tour in support of its latest album Kurr on Ever Records.

“We are very sorry to inform you that due to illness within the band, we have had to postpone our North American tour scheduled to start in Washington, D.C. next week,” the four, Sólrún Sumarlidadóttir, María Sigfúsdóttir, Edda Olafsdottir and Hildur Ársælsdóttir, posted on their website. “We obviously didn’t want this to happen and are very disappointed, but we will soon be over before you know it! Thank you to those who have already bought tickets. Please go to the point of purchase for a full refund.” . . .

The band hopes to reschedule the tour for Spring 2008, following additional time back in the studio and a European tour in October.

Ticket holders can receive refunds through Sept. 18 at their original point of purchase. Ticketmaster phone and online orders will be automatically refunded.
