It’s an exciting week at the top of The Billboard 200 chart, as three of the year’s most anticipated releases enter in the top three slots. But despite the hubbub over the Kanye West/50 Cent/Kenny Chesney showdown, sales are still down 9% compared to the same week last year at 9.16 million.

As reported last night, West’s “Graduation” (Def Jam) debuts at No. 1 with a whopping 957,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan, trouncing the 691,000 unit entry of 50 Cent’s “Curtis” (G-Unit/Interscope) at No. 2. “Graduation” is the biggest selling album so far this year and is the 15th biggest sales frame since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking data in 1991.
