Already in the news this week due to a fight with Kid Rock at the MTV Video Awards, court papers reveal Tommy Lee has left the legendary band he helped form, Motley Crue.
According to legal documents obtained by MTV News, Tommy Lee recently informed the band that he was resigning, and his resignation was accepted by his former band-mates.
Lee’s resignation was revealed in an amended complaint to the band’s lawsuit against manager Carl Stubner and his three companies. The complaint claims Stubner breached his fiduciary responsibilities to Motley Crue by promoting Tommy’s career to the detriment of the band’s. Stubner was one of Crue’s three managers and also managed Lee’s outside interests.
According to the lawsuit, Stubner used his management position to obtain free tickets to the band’s concerts, which Stubner allegedly re-sold at higher than face prices for his own benefit.
The band’s suit seeks more than $20 million in compensatory damages for lost earnings and profits.
