Dublin-based, Mexican acoustic rock guitarists Rodrigo y Gabriela — Rodrigo Sánchez on lead guitar and Gabriela Quintero on rhythm guitar — kick off a short headlining club tour Feb. 7 in Portland, OR.

The metal-influenced duo is touring behind its eponymous 2006 album, produced by John Leckie (Radiohead, Muse, My Morning Jacket). The nine-track album includes covers of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and Metallica’s “Orion.”

The duo describe their style as fusion music, explaining on their website that it “mainly has Latin harmonies and rhythms but the structure is rock. It’s not jazz because it’s structured, and we don’t improvise; our solos are exactly what’s on the record, as a metal fan and guitarist you always want to hear the same f**king solo!” Influences range from family salsa records to Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Megadeth and Slayer.
