Another week and another bump up in ticket sales on Broadway, which saw sales jump to $19,059,103. Although a comfortable increase of $819,423 over last week, this week’s totals still trail last year’s box office take of $20,065,645 for the same week. Judging by the last few weeks’ gross receipts, it’s likely that sales lagging behind last year’s are a reflection of the depressed economy more than the effects of last fall’s strike.

Looking at the 35 productions on Broadway, the leaders remain: Wicked at the Gershwin Theatre, The Lion King at the Minskoff, Jersey Boys at the August Wilson, The Little Mermaid at the Lunt-Fontanne and Mamma Mia! at the Winter Garden in that order. This does not include Young Frankenstein at the Hilton, which is not reporting revenues.

Of the nine plays, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof> at the Broadhurst continues to lead the pack at more than 95 percent seat capacity. It is followed by August: Osage County at the Music Box, Boeing-Boeing at the Longacre and The Country Girl at the Jacobs.

Xanadu, playing at the Hayes, reversed its recent trend with an increase in gross receipts of $210 K at the box office and an increase in attendance of 11 percent. Even the play Top Girls at the Biltmore exceeded Xanadu’s ticket sales at $225,870, when musicals traditionally out-draw plays. The “Best Bargain” in ticket sales continues to be Cry-Baby at the Marquis with the lowest Average Paid Admission of $33.27. The highest in that category continues to be Jersey Boys at $115.79.

Comparing this week’s revenues with the previous reporting period, In the Heights at the Rodgers Theatre had the biggest increase, up $143,188. On the opposite end of the measuring stick, Spring Awakening at the O’Neill had a drop of $29,520 in revenues, followed closely by The Country Girl with a $29,035 drop.

Looking at attendance, August: Osage County posted almost a 16 percent increase, while Spring Awakening and lastly, A Catered Affair at the Kerr, dropped 3.8 percent and 3.3 percent respectively.

Look for these closings coming up:

• Cry-Baby – June 22
• Cat on a Hot Tin Roof – June 22
• Curtains – June 29
• Top Girls – June 29
• Sunday in the Park with George – June 29
• Les Liaisons Dangereuses – July 6
• November – July 13
