My Morning Jacket has confirmed a New Year’s Eve show at Madison Square Garden billed as “An Evening with My Morning Jacket.” Tickets go on sale June 27.
Madison Square Garden has traditionally hosted concerts on New Year’s Eve including recent performances by Phish (1995, 1997, 1998, 2002), Billy Joel (1982, 1999), Blues Traveler (1996), Marc Anthony (2000), Wilco & The Flaming Lips (2004), The Black Crowes & Trey Anastasio (2005) and Chris Rock (2007). A 2003 New Year’s show by Jane’s Addiction and Marilyn Manson was cancelled due to soft ticket sales. No show was booked for 2006.
Hailing from Louisville, KY, My Morning Jacket released its fourth album, “Evil Urges,” on June 10 and has taken it on the road for three North American shows June 16-20; they also performed at Bonnaroo on June 13. A UK/European leg follows June 25-July 19 that includes festival dates at Glastonbury, Werchter, T in the Park, and Benicassim.
The group returns to the States August 16 for a 24-city tour which begins in their hometown of Louisville, KY and finishes up with a double-header October 9-10 in Chicago, IL at the Chicago Theatre.
