On the heels of its one-day price break in Southern California, where tickets for select Live Nation shows were only $10; the company is rolling out the same deal for purchasers in the New York metropolitan area.
For one day only, July 29, $10 tickets are being offered for the following: 14 shows playing the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater, mezzanine section only; PNC Bank Arts Center in New Jersey, lawn seats only; and select seating at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island
The $10 initiative not only helps Live Nation increase its ticketing revenues, but in venues it owns or operates, it can provide a boost to ancillary income; such as concessions, merchandise and parking. Live Nation operates Nikon at Jones Beach Theater and the PNC Bank Arts Center. Nassau Coliseum is a rental.
On the other hand, since Live Nation has done these types of promotions–sometimes a two-for-one ticket price—concert goers can wait until the promotion to buy tickets at the discounted price rather than at full price.
Of course, there is a risk that the concert will sell out at full price, but astute concert goers can pretty well project what shows will be viable for this type of promotion, assuming there is one.
