Even as audio/visualist mash-up DJ Mike Relm crosses the country on Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom HuckJam tour as the featured music performer, he is planning his first-ever national headlining tour for this fall.

Relm’s headlining stint begins on September 23 in Eugene, OR, and concludes on October 24 in Los Angeles, CA. These dates will support the release of his debut album, “Spectacle,” which includes his new single “My Heart,” featuring vocals by Adeem and Adrian Hartley. The DJ’s previous releases consisted solely of “mash-ups” — samples from other artists’ recordings that were mixed to hip-hop, dance and electronic beats.

“‘Spectacle’ was born out of a need to express myself creatively through music,” said Relm in a statement about his first entirely original release. “Well, that combined with the fact that I’ve received far too many cease and desist orders to make another sample-based record. It’s pretty sad, even my children and my children’s children will not be able to make a sample-based record.”

Since his first mash-up release in 2000, Relm has paired with prominent hip-hop artists like Del The Funky Homosapien, and toured with groups such as the Blue Man Group. The DJ from San Francisco also has appearances at several major music festivals under his belt, including Coachella, the Detroit Electronic Music Festival, Summer Sonic and Mt. Fuji in Japan, as well as most of the major European festivals.

During Relm’s signature live productions, he performs his mash-ups and original songs while projecting real-time video manipulations. The result is an audio-visual journey unique to each night’s performance.
