TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, August 3, and Yankee Stadium holds tight to the number one position for the sixth straight week. With a power score of 4.86, the stadium sustains an extraordinary lead over all competitors, fueled by New York Yankees fans’ excitement to be a part of the stadium’s final season.

Broadway pushes further into the top three this week, with sales of “Wicked” tickets driving the Gershwin Theater back into second place with a power score of 2.86, after it had fallen to third position for the past three weeks. Giants Stadium moves up from number seven last week to the number three slot with a power score of 2.35. Strong sales for New York Giants and New York Red Bulls tickets are fueling the Stadium’s big move up the rankings list. Fans of the NL Central division leaders Chicago Cubs continue to keep Wrigley Field in the top ten, moving it up one slot this week to the number four position, with a power score of 2.29. Madison Square Garden (MSG) rounds out the top five with a power score of 2.27, on strong sales for popular shows like the Jonas Brothers, Madonna, the Dave Matthews Band and Celine Dion.

Sports fans continue to drive a number of venues into the top ten. Dropping to sixth place overall this week with a power score of 2.16, Fenway Park still maintains its top ten showing over the past several weeks. Dallas Cowboys fans are keeping ticket sales strong for the upcoming season, which is helping Texas Stadium maintain its top ten placement, up one slot from last week to finish in seventh place, with a power score of 1.64.

A top three event in TicketNews’s Top Theater Events rankings for the past several weeks, “South Pacific” maintains ticket sales that allow the Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center to break back into the top ten this week, finishing in eighth position with a power score of 1.61.

The home of the hit musical “Jersey Boys,” the Virginia/August Wilson Theater, drops one to number 10, with a power score of 1.32.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
