TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, August 24. For the ninth week running, Yankee Stadium finished in the number one position in our rankings. With a power score of 3.08, the stadium maintains its lead over all rivals, a lead which has lasted all summer long. As Dallas Cowboys’ ticket sales keep the team in the number two slot in TicketNews’ Top Sports Events rankings, Texas Stadium moves up one slot to the same number two position this week, continuing its rapid ascent from number six just two weeks ago. The Cowboys’ home stadium comes in with a power score of 2.83.

Madison Square Garden (MSG) moves up one spot this week to the number three position, with a power score of 2.68. Robust sales for artists such as Madonna and Celene Dion are driving MSG’s upward mobility, and planned renovations to the complex should only make this a more attractive venue for performers and fans alike.

Sports venues round out this week’s top five. Giants Stadium jumps up to the number four position this week with a power score of 2.35. The New York Giants’ home field moves up two slots from number six in last week’s rankings. Last minute ticket sales for the US Open Tennis Championship boost Arthur Ashe Stadium into the top five this week. The stadium comes in at number five and carries a power score of 2.10.

The Gershwin Theater continues to be the top Broadway venue in our rankings. With sales of “Wicked” tickets topping TicketNews’ Top Theater Events rankings for the thirty-ninth straight week, the Gershwin maintains a firm hold in the top ten, this week finishing in sixth place with a power score of 1.75. The final concert venue in this week’s top ten is the Caesar’s Palace Colosseum in Las Vegas. Continued strong ticket sales for the likes of Bette Midler, Cher and Elton John are maintaining this venue’s popularity, this week finishing in the number seven slot with a power score of 1.67.

Chicago Cubs fans keep Wrigley Field holding steady in the eighth position this week, just barely edged out of seventh by Caesar’s Palace with a power score of 1.66. The Vivian Beaumont Theatre at Lincoln Center, maintains its ninth place ranking on continued strong sales of South Pacific tickets. The theater comes in this week with a power score of 1.48. Rounding out the top ten this week is Fenway Park. Despite Boston Red Sox fans keeping ticket sales up as the season winds down, the stadium drops three slots this week to the number ten position, with a power score of 1.37.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
