TicketNews’s Weekly Top Events for the week ending November 9 show that ticket buyers are already thinking about their Christmas entertainment and made Radio City Christmas Spectacular the second bestselling event overall with a 6.01 power score. The Christmas show only trails the musical Wicked which has a power score of 6.79. In the theater rankings, The Nutcracker appears at number ten, power score 1.87. Irving Berlin’s White Christmas ranks at number eight in the Top Broadway Events rankings, power score 2.71.
Other overall bestsellers include AC/DC, number three in the Top Combined Events rankings with a 4.01 power score; the Eagles, who leap from the previously held number ten position to number five (2.21); and the Lion King, which closes out the overall top ten with a 1.46 power score.
Trans-Siberian Orchestra has one of the bestselling concerts according to the Top Concert Events rankings. They rank at number four, power score 5.95, with Madonna (number five, 5.45) and Coldplay (number six, 3.71) following. Numbers eight, nine, and ten belong to divas Tina Turner (2.94), Céline Dion (2.40), and Bette Midler (1.80).
In the sports rankings, the New England Patriots reign supreme with a 3.58 power score. Basketball pulls ahead in the sports rankings with the LA Lakers ranked at number two, power score 3.42 and the New York Knicks ranked at number eight, power score 2.77. Popular NFL teams among ticket buyers are the New York Giants (number three, 3.32), Philadelphia Eagles (number four, 3.26), and Minnesota Vikings (number five, 3.04). Noticeably, the Dallas Cowboys slip in the rankings to number seven, power score 2.77. The SEC Championship Game ranks at number six (2.80); WWE Wrestlemania XXV at number nine (2.66).
Jersey Boys is the second most popular show (behind “Wicked”) in both the theater and Broadway rankings. Mamma Mia! ranks higher in the Broadway rankings (number seven, 2.91) than in the theater rankings (number nine, 2.27), as does Cirque du Soleil: Wintuk (number four in Broadway rankings, 8.41; number five in theater rankings, 4.89). The Little Mermaid appears in the Broadway rankings (but not in the theater rankings) at number nine, power score 2.55. Dirty Dancing, which isn’t in the Broadway rankings, appears in the theater rankings at number eight, power score 2.50.
Bette Midler is still number one in Vegas with a 48.60 power score. Cher comes in behind Midler (12.76), followed by Elton John (8.13). Criss Angel: Believe, previously ranked at number ten, now ranks at number six, power score 4.20. Cirque du Soleil: “O” slips from number two to number five (4.57). Donny & Marie Osmond close out the Vegas top ten with a 1.43 power score.
