TicketNews has released its exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, February 15, and what a difference a Valentine’s Day box office opening makes. On Saturday, tickets for the Elton John and Billy Joel show at Philadelphia’s Citizens Bank Park went on sale, and that seems to have been enough to boost this venue directly to the number one spot in this week’s rankings. Power scoring a 4.06, the Park will host the tour on July 30, and this week it tops both TicketNews’ Top Concerts and Top Combined Events rankings. In addition, the Park is also home to the World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies.

Keeping a tight hold on the number two slot for the fourth week running is Madison Square Garden (MSG). Power scoring a 2.67, MSG hosts popular home team the New York Knicks and will see dates from top selling artists like Fleetwood Mac and Jimmy Buffett in the coming months.

Dominating the list just last week, TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, MA falls to the number three spot. With a power score of 2.45, the Garden still makes a respectable showing with an strong roster of performances by the likes of Britney Spears, Bruce Springsteen, and Keith Urban and Taylor Swift, with Swift being just one of a number of supporting acts for Urban on his Escape Together World Tour this year. The Garden also hosts hometown favorites the Boston Celtics and has a date for the crowd-pleasing WWE tour.

The Gershwin Theatre falls one to the number four slot this week. Power scoring a 2.27, the theater owes its frequent top five finish to the high-grossing musical Wicked, currently playing at the venue. Holding steady this week at number five is the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco, CA. Known for providing Broadway-style experiences to West Coast audiences, the Orpheum is currently running a production of “Wicked,” which at this time is scheduled to run through September. The Orpheum Theatre has a power score of 2.15 this week.

The Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA is next on our list at number six. Dropping down two from last week and power scoring a 1.77, the Staples Center is home to Los Angeles Lakers basketball and also will host a number of top artists in the coming months, including Britney Spears, Taylor Swift and Keith Urban on their separate tours. After a week’s hiatus, the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, PA returns to the top ten, finishing at number seven this week. Power scoring a 1.51, the Center will host a performance by Keith Urban and Taylor Swift as well as the WWE tour in the coming months.

Debuting at number eight this week is Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL. Power scoring a 1.46, Wrigley is home to the Chicago Cubs, and the ballpark will also host a stop on the Elton John and Billy Joel tour. Ticket sales for its July 21 show also opened on February 14. The Susquehanna Bank Center is a newcomer to the list this week at number nine. With a power score of 1.27, the Center plays host to Il Divo and to Jimmy Buffett in the coming months. Wrapping up the top ten this week is Fenway Park. With its home team Boston Red Sox leading all competitors in this week’s TicketNews Top Sports Events rankings, the park zooms back on to the list with a number ten finish and a power score of 1.19.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
