Wicked holds on to the number one spot in TicketNews’s Weekly Top Events rankings for the week ending June 28. With a 5.87 power score, the musical was able to keep its lead over tickets for concerts from Paul McCartney (two, 5.37) and the Jonas Brothers (three, 3.06). Jersey Boys fares well in the overall top ten, taking number four (2.39) and pulling ahead of the New York Yankees (five, 2.25) and the Boston Red Sox (six, 2.25). Beyoncé tickets are selling well for her tour, enough to give her the number seven spot (1.98) and a lead over Taylor Swift & Kellie Pickler (eight, 1.65). Baseball closes out the overall top ten, with the Chicago Cubs at nine (1.53) and the New York Mets at ten (1.45).
The Top Sports Events rankings show the above baseball teams on top, followed by the WWE (five, 2.85). The Atlanta Braves make number six (2.72) and are followed by the Chelsea FC (seven, 2.24) and the Minnesota Vikings (eight, 2.05). The Chicago White Sox (1.95) take number nine (2.95) and the Dallas Cowboys are ten with a 1.91 power score.
Paul McCartney is of course number one (10.34) in the concert rankings. U2 tickets are still popular among concert-goers, recording a 2.47 power score to take number five. Aerosmith & ZZ Top are number six (2.22), and is followed by the Dave Matthews Band, which is back in the rankings at number seven (2.05). Country star Kenny Chesney was popular enough to come in at number eight (2.02). Duo concerts from Elton John & Billy Joel (1.95) and Eric Clapton & Steve Winwood (1.90) are nine and ten, respectively.
“Wicked” is the top theater event with a 25.09 power score. Other popular theater shows include West Side Story (four, 5.77), Phantom of the Opera (six, 3.23), Mary Poppins (seven, 3.05) and South Pacific (eight, 2.25). New to the theater top ten is Fiddler on the Roof (nine, 2.11). Mamma Mia! reenters the theater rankings at number ten (1.97).
The top ten Broadway shows include Billy Elliot (two, 15.35), Lion King (five, 4.79), and God of Carnage (seven, 2.80). Hair is number eight (2.73).
Bette Midler still reigns supreme in the Vegas rankings. With a 47.34 power score, she has a comfortable lead over number two Cher (24.94). Cirque du Soleil – O stays at number three (12.47). Barry Manilow makes the rankings at number four (2.94), pushing Cirque du Soleil – The Beatles: LOVE to number five (2.36). “Jersey Boys” take six (1.80) and David Copperfield is seven (1.40). Phantom: The Las Vegas Spectacular is number eight (1.32) while Cirque du Soleil – Mystere is number nine (1.23). And at number ten with a 0.89 power score are Donny & Marie Osmond.
