Punk trio Blink-182 has rescheduled several concerts to accommodate drummer Travis Barker as he grieves the loss of his close friend Adam “DJ AM” Goldstein, who was found deceased in his New York City apartment on August 28. This change affects multiple dates and locations on their current tour schedule.
Initially, the group was set to perform on September 2 at the Blossom Music Center in Cleveland, OH. This performance has now been moved to September 30. Similarly, the September 3 show initially planned for the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in St. Louis, MO, has been rescheduled to September 29. These alterations were necessary to give Barker some time to process the sudden loss.
Furthermore, the rescheduling cascade has also impacted their later shows. The concert originally set for October 1 in Charlotte, NC, at Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre is now slated for October 6. Moreover, the band’s performance on September 29 in Atlanta, GA, at Aaron’s Amphitheatre at Lakewood has been pushed to October 7. Tickets purchased for the original dates will be honored at the rescheduled events, ensuring fans can still enjoy the performances on the new dates.
The tour is set to resume on September 4 in Bonner Springs, KS, at the Sandstone Amphitheatre, following a cancellation of their August 31 show in Saratoga, NY, at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. This series of changes underscores the close bond and collaborative history between Barker and Goldstein, who performed together under the moniker TRV$DJ-AM.
Their collaboration was not only musical but also personal, as both were survivors of a harrowing small plane crash in September 2008, which resulted in the deaths of four others. The adjustments in the tour schedule reflect the impact of personal relationships and shared experiences in the professional dynamics of artists like Blink-182.
