Uproar Festival returns for second year with Avenged Sevenfold
For the second year running, Rockstar Energy Drink will set its Uproar Festival on the road for a late summer tour of North America.
Avenge Sevenfold will headline the 2011 event’s main stage with help from Three Days Grace, Seether, Bullet for My Valentine and Escape the Fate. A second stage, sponsored by Best Buy Music Gear, will feature Sevendust, Black Tide, Art of Dying and The Black Cloud Collective.
Cities and venues have been announced for just 16 of the 30-plus dates on the tour calendar. The 2011 Uproar Festival launches August 26 at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ, and concludes October 15 at a yet undisclosed location.
Of the dates that have been fully confirmed, stops include: August 28 at Comcast Center in Mansfield, MA; September 14 at Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto, ON; and October 9 at Cricket Wireless Amphitheatre in San Diego, CA.
Ticket sales for the announced dates are scattered over the next few weeks, with the first round of public onsales starting June 17-18. According to an official announcement from Live Nation, ticket prices will range from $20 to $69.99 in most Uproar markets.
More concert announcements are expected on June 29. The current schedule of 2011 tour dates and onsales is available on the official Uproar Festival Web site.
Uproar Festival debuted in 2010 as a hard rock/heavy metal replacement for the hardcore Taste of Chaos Festival. The founder of both events, John Reese, discussed the change in a 2010 interview with Billboard magazine.
“Taste of Chaos had pretty much run its course in America,” Reese stated, adding, “We were just kind of running out of bands that fit within the profile of what Taste of Chaos was. So rather than trying to beat that horse, we decided to come up with a whole new concept….”
Avenged Sevenfold was also a main stage headliner during Uproar’s 2010 inaugural year, along with Disturbed, Stone Sour and Halestorm. That trek visited about 35 cities on a similar August-to-October schedule, but was unable to crack into the Top 10 Concert Events on TicketNews’ exclusive weekly rankings.
