Last week’s start to the World Series meant lots of excited fans and an MLB takeover of TicketNews’ exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, October 23.

Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers, benefitted the most from last week’s ticket rush, besting all other venues in the rankings this week including the home of their World Series opponent, the St. Louis Cardinals. Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, finished as the runner-up, a position the Cardinals hope not to find themselves this week as the World Series draws to a close. The series will shift to St. Louis after the Rangers won Game 5 to take a 3-2 lead. Game 6 will take place on Wednesday, October 26.

Thanks to blockbuster musicals and musical events, theater venues remain solid contenders in the venues top ten. This week saw the Eugene O’Neill Theatre at number three with its runaway hit “The Book of Mormon”, the production consistently sitting atop TicketNews’ Top Broadway rankings.

Radio City Music Hall, the flagship theater for the highly anticipated “Radio City Christmas Spectacular”, also performed well this week, coming in at number five.

Finally, the Gershwin Theatre hit at number six this week behind strong sales for its hit musical “Wicked”, which also took number one in the week’s Top Theater Events rankings and number two on the Top Events list.

With the current lockout further delaying the start of NBA season, number four’s Madison Square Garden (MSG) still has this week’s home opener for its New York Rangers as well as some top selling musical artists to bring in the revenue. In the coming weeks, MSG has the popular Watch The Throne Tour with Jay-Z and Kanye West as well as Enrique Iglesias and his Euphoria Tour. The week’s number one entry in the Top Concerts rankings, Bob Seger, makes a stop at the Garden in December.

TicketNews Exclusive Rankings and Power Scores are based on ticket sales for venues from the TicketNetwork Exchange™, the world’s largest secondary market exchange. A Power Score illustrates a given venue’s category-specific significance. Two factors are used to calculate a power score: total ticket sales for a venue, and total ticket sales within the category. As such, power scores should only be used to compare venues within a particular category.
