Ticketmaster-owned resale marketplace TicketsNow has been named the official marketplace for buyers and sellers of Allstate Bowl Championship Series (BCS) National Championship game tickets.

The BCS National Championship game has become one of the more popular sports tickets in recent years, and it has appeared in the Top 10 of TicketNews’ exclusive event rankings.

In addition to the annual college football championship game, TicketsNow was also named the official ticket marketplace for the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the company announced.

“TicketsNow is honored to be named the Official Ticket Resale Marketplace for these two important events, and we look forward to serving college football fans with the very best service and most secure ticketing technology available,” Mike Newquist, TicketsNow’s business development director, said in a statement.

Both games will be played in January 2012 in New Orleans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome; the Sugar Bowl on January 3 and the BCS National Championship on January 9.

StubHub was the official marketplace for the 2011 BCS National Championship game, for which the company was forced to temporarily suspend ticket resales. An unnamed reseller allegedly oversold the event, and StubHub subsequently filled all of those orders, according to the company.

In recent months, Ticketmaster has tried to boost the profile of its secondary market division by launching anew resale initiative that allows clients to decide whether fans can be redirected to buy tickets to sold-out events on TicketsNow.com.
