The late-starting NBA season and a long anticipated rock reunion brought indoor arenas to the top of TicketNews’ exclusive venues rankings for the week ending Sunday, January 15.
Madison Square Garden (MSG) topped the week’s rankings, coming in at No. 1 for the sixth consecutive week. The arena was aided by strong sales for the NBA’s New York Knicks and the NHL’s Atlantic Division leading New York Rangers.
Other high-ranking NBA venues include the Staples Center, home of the Clippers and Lakers, in at No. 5; TD Garden, home to the Boston Celtics, at No. 7; and the Miami Heat’s American Airlines Arena at No. 10.
NBA games were not the only reason these venues did well in the rankings this week, they were also helped by David Lee Roth rejoining Van Halen for a reunion tour this year, which has March dates at both MSG and the TD Garden and a June performance at Staples. Sales for highly-anticipated tour this week topped TicketNews’ Top Concert and Top Events rankings.
April’s Coachella Music Festival announced its full concert line-up this past week, helping the Empire Polo Field in Indio, CA, make its debut in the top ten this week, coming in at No. 8.
