Americana folk-rock singer Brandi Carlile, who just scored three Grammy awards this past weekend, will head out on a U.S. tour this summer.
The tour will kick-off this April in Nashville, Tennessee followed by gigs in cities like Chicago, St. Paul, New York, Philadelphia, and Quincy. She’ll make stops at a handful of festivals including Massachusett’s Boston Calling, Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Virginia’s FloydFest, and Iowa’s Hinterland. The trek will wrap-up late September in Berkeley, California.
Carlile will be touring in support of her 2018 LP By The Way, I Forgive You, which included singles “Whatever You Do,” “Party Of One,” and smash-hit “The Joke.” The album received mass acclaim, winning Best Americana Album yesterday at the Grammys. She also won Best Americana Song and Americana Roots Performance for “The Joke,” which she performed onstage.
“Americana music is the island of the misfit toys. I am such a misfit. It is this music that has shaped my life and made me who I am and even given me my family,” Carlile said while accepting the award for Best Americana Roots Song.
“I came out of the closet at 15 years old when I was in high school. And I can assure you that I was never invited to any parties and never got to attend a dance. To be embraced by this enduring and loving community has been the dance of a lifetime.”
By The Way, I Forgive You follows 2015’s The Firewatcher’s Daughter and 2012’s Bear Creek. Carlile is best-known for 2007’s The Story, the LP which kicked-off her career. However, this was the singer’s first huge recognition in the industry, which left fans saying: about time.
