The rockers of Cage the Elephant were touring the UK and Europe in support of their latest record, Social Cues, but had to cancel the remainding dates after guitarist Nick Bockrath sustained a leg injury.

During the band’s appearance at Netherland’s Pinkpop festival, Bockrath reportedly ruptured his PCL, tore his ACL, damaged his meniscus, and fractured his tibia. While he tried to still continue the tour with his injury, it wasn’t possible. He found out he needed “immediate surgery” and according to a statement from the band, he is “currently getting the medical attention he needs.”

“We’ve never had to cancel a show and as you can imagine, it’s a rather tough pill to swallow, especially for poor Nick who so desperately wanted to try and push through,” Cage the Elephant said in a statement. “Please send him all the love you can.”

The cancelled dates include shows from June 12 to June 20. All ticketholders will receive refunds at original point of purchase except for ticketholders for the Isle of Wight Festival. The band noted in a statement that while they are “gutted” to have to cancel the remainder of the tour, they have already booked another run in Europe with even more dates in areas that weren’t included on the original run. While Backrath is still recovering, it’s likely that he will be able to return for the band’s Night Running Tour later this summer with Beck and Spoon.
