In the middle of a summer schedule filled with European and Canadian festival performances, Arcade Fire will take time out for a brief trek through the United States.
The seven-date U.S. venture launches August 1 at the Bank of America Pavilion in Boston, MA, and concludes just over a week later on August 11 at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in Alpharetta, GA. The trek will be the indie troupe’s first U.S. tour in three years.
Arcade Fire is also slated to perform an August 4 show at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY, and an August 8 headline set at this year’s Lollapalooza in Chicago, IL. Another indie rock favorite, Spoon, will open in four markets: Philadelphia, New York City, Columbia and Alpharetta.
Arcade Fire’s official Web site is currently holding presales for the U.S. tour; the first round of public onsales begins June 4. According to current listings on Ticketmaster.com, face values will range from $29.50 to $49.50 in Philadelphia and from $37 to $42 in Boston. The band is donating $1 from each ticket sold to non-profit Partners in Health‘s relief efforts in Haiti.
The Quebec-based band, led by husband-and-wife team Win Butler and Regine Chassagne, has also scheduled six appearances north of the border. The Canadian calendar opens early next week with a June 7-8 stand at Le Theatre Granada in Sherbrooke, QC, and wraps August 14 at Olympic Island in Toronto, ON.
As for the rest of the summer, Arcade Fire will make the rounds of the European festival circuit with a bevy of early July and late August billings lined up. Most notably, the indie rockers will simultaneously headline the famous Reading and Leeds Festivals on August 27 (Leeds) and August 28 (Reading).
Arcade Fire’s national routing coincides with the August 3 release of its third studio album, “The Suburbs.” The effort is a follow-up to March 2007’s “Neon Bible,” which peaked on the Billboard 200 in the No. 2 slot. “Neon Bible” also featured prominently on many critics’ lists for 2007 Albums of the Year, including Billboard (No. 2), Rolling Stone (No. 4) and NME (No. 4).
