British rock band Coldplay is playing two free concerts before it starts its Viva la Vida world tour, which kicks off in Philadelphia, PA on June 29. The band’s 29-date trek of mostly North American arena shows goes through November 22 in Salt Lake City, UT, but there are enough open dates to add more concerts to their schedule. The band is mounting the tour in support of its new album, “Viva La Vida,” set for a June release.

Coldplay’s two free concerts are set for June 16 at the Brixton Academy in London, UK and June 23 at Madison Sqaure Garden in New York. Information on how to obtain tickets for these shows are posted on the band’s website.

Mixed in with the North American shows are two festival dates, August 9-10 in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, where they will headline the Summer Sonic Festival.

Coldplay expects to do about 90 shows this year and approximately 150 concerts by the time the Viva la Vida tour wraps next year. Tickets will be in the $50-$85 range in most markets, and the majority of tickets are slated to go on sale June 14.
