Acoustic jazz musician Corinne Bailey Rae is back after a lengthy hiatus with a new album and her first North American tour in about three years.

The 13-date trek begins April 9 at Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC, and closes five weeks later on May 14 at Rams Head Live! in Baltimore, MD. Along its coast-to-coast path, the spring jaunt will also stop for shows on April 15 at The Regency Ballroom in San Francisco, CA; April 22 at Vic Theatre in Chicago, IL; and May 3 at Webster Hall in New York, NY.

Besides her opening engagement in Vancouver, Bailey Rae has only one other gig scheduled for Canada. That performance falls on April 28 at Club Soda in Montreal, QC.

While most of Bailey Rae’s calendar will feature her in medium-sized clubs and theaters, the 30-year-old singer and guitarist will also have an opportunity to showcase her talents in a festival setting at one of the nation’s most popular live events. On April 17, she will play for audiences at the 11th annual Coachella Festival in Indio, CA, though her exact stage assignment at the eclectic music event has not been announced yet.

Bailey Rae is touring in support of her second studio album, “The Sea,” which is scheduled for release on February 2, almost four years after making her debut in the industry.

Her eponymous introductory album peaked at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Driven by the acclaimed single “Put Your Records On,” Bailey Rae appeared to be on the fast route to a promising career. However, after the tragic 2008 death of her husband, musician Jason Rae, the English singer-songwriter entered a period of hiatus as she worked on new material.

“I’m really aware that I can’t hide any of my feelings. With music I feel like it’s the one time when I don’t have to think and I don’t have to contrive anything,” Bailey Rae commented on her official Web site. “So that’s how this record turned out. It’s not contrived. It’s just open.”
