Dave Matthews Band will delay the start of its planned touring hiatus in 2011 with to a fresh round of concerts. This week the perennially popular touring band announced a fall extension to its 2010 touring season before it takes next year off the road.

DMB previously planned to close this year with a September 17-18 stand at Wrigley Field in Chicago, IL. Now, a fresh nine-city tour leg picks up November 2 at HSBC Arena in Buffalo, NY, and extends through a November 19-20 block at John Paul Jones Arena in Charlottesville, VA.

Besides the tour’s closing engagement, double-header concerts are also lined up for November 9-10 at TD Garden in Boston, MA, and November 12-13 at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. Other stops on the East Coast jaunt include November 5 at Times Union Center in Albany, NY, and November 16 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA.

First dibs on the November tour tickets go to members of the official DMB fan club, Warehouse. Their presale request period starts at 6 p.m. (ET) tonight, September 9, and closes September 20 at noon. Ticket requests will be filled via lottery, and notifications will be sent September 23 and 24.

Public onsales for the November tour start later on September 24 and 25. At present, Ticketmaster.com shows a single event listing for November 17 at the Coliseum in North Charleston, SC, where tickets are priced at $65 and $75. Pricing details for the rest of the tour have not yet been announced.

Several acts will handle supporting duties for the late year outing. Amos Lee will open DMB’s first shows on November 2-3, followed by the Punch Brothers (November 5-6), the John Butler Trio (November 9-13), and Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue (November 16-20).

DMB will perform tonight, September 9, at the NFL Kickoff Concert in New Orleans, LA, before continuing with its summer 2010 tour itinerary tomorrow, September 10, at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The woodlands, TX. The band is also slated to help headline the 25th Farm Aid concert booked for October 2 at Miller Park in Milwaukee, WI.

Earlier this year, Matthews told Billboard that “taking a year to sort of recharge my creative juices and sort of not have the safety net of touring with the band for a year and just see what my head comes up with was sort of my idea.”

Though the band has a strong following on its yearly tours, tickets for this year’s jaunt weren’t selling as quickly at the start of 2010 as in previous years. The band spent only two weeks on TicketNews’ exclusive Top Events Rankings when tour onsales started in February. DMB debuted as the No. 1 event for the sales week ending February 28 and disappeared from the chart just two weeks later.

However, after announcing its impending hiatus on May 24, DMB rocketed back onto the Top 20 rankings. The jam crew re-entered at No. 11 during the week ending May 30 and stayed in the thick of the rankings through the end of August, when DMB fell back to a No. 20 rankings placement during the week ending August 22.
