He may be barely 16 years old, but up-and-coming pop and R&B star Justin Bieber is already declaring the world his own. Backed by a dedicated tween fanbase rivaling that of the Jonas Brothers, the young Canadian crooner will launch a lengthy headlining tour of North American arenas.
The massive 43-date My World Tour launches with a June 23 performance at the XL Center in Hartford, CT. After more than two months on the road, Bieber will wrap his summer jaunt on September 4 at the Great Allentown Fair in Allentown, PA. All dates feature support from “Beautiful Girls” reggae-rap singer Sean Kingston.
Despite being a relative newcomer, the one-boy phenom has booked his headlining debut into some of the nation’s biggest venues. Bieber’s itinerary includes performances on June 26 at Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI; July 14 at Rose Garden Arena in Portland, OR; and August 11 at Bridgestone Arena (formerly the Sommet Center) in Nashville, TN.
Arguably, Bieber’s biggest stateside gig comes on August 31 when he takes the stage at Madison Square Garden in New York, NY. The Garden has a concert capacity of roughly 20,000, and booking the famed venue stands as a major achievement for a young performer who hasn’t headlined any major ticketed events in the U.S. before this point.
At this point, the young performer is only slated for a trio of shows in his native Canada. Those events are scheduled for August 21 at Air Canada Centre in Toronto, ON; August 22 at the John Labatt Centre in London, ON; and August 24 at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, ON.
With a couple exceptions, presales begin in most tour markets on March 18 at 10 a.m. (local) for members of the official “Bieber Fever” fan club. Presales will include sales of special VIP packages, and will be followed by public onsales on March 27.
In most U.S. markets, tickets will be priced within the $20 to $50 range, though larger markets like New York City are priced up to $70.
According to terms outlined on the fan club Web site, some ticketing restrictions will be in place for the various My World Tour ticket packages. The site notes, in part:
All VIP package tickets are will-call only. Will-call tickets may only be picked up the evening of the event. Please note all packages are non-transferable; no will-call name changes will be permitted under any circumstances. The person who purchases the tickets must be the same person who claims the tickets at will-call with a valid identification.
Though he’s fairly untested as a headlining act, Bieber has been known to stir up fan frenzies at smaller appearances across the nation. Most recently, police were forced to shut down a scheduled November 2009 album signing at a Long Island mall because the increasingly aggressive crowd of approximately 3,000 young fans and parents posed a safety and fire hazard.
Bieber detailed the event in a series of posts on his official Twitter account, writing, “They are not allowing me to come into the mall. if you dont leave I and my fans will be arrested as the police just told us… please go home. the police have already arrested one person from my camp. I dont want anyone hurt.”
Before launching the summer-long trek, Bieber will perform a special March 21 set at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo in Houston, TX, followed by a March 23-24 stand at Rosemont Theatre in Rosemont, IL.
